Bulletstorm sequel Shelved, Pirates to blame for Poor PC Sales

April 10, 2012 by Mat Growcott

People Can Fly were working for a short time on a sequel to bad language-laden hit Bulletstorm – now they’re not.

A sequel to the swear-swollen dick party that was Bulletstorm was in very early development but was shelved for a as-of-yet unannounced project that more fitted developer People Can Fly. This is according to Epic boss (that is to say, the boss of Epic) Mike Capps.

"I'd love to go back [to Bulletstorm]," Capps admitted during an interview with Gamespot. "I think there's more to do with Bulletstorm. Heck, it kind of ended wanting more. I'd love to see another project, but right now we don't have anything to talk about."

It was a fun game and definitely deserves a little more attention, so it's nice to think more may come in the future. In the same interview, Capps touched on sales and the effect of piracy on the PC version.

"I think Bulletstorm was very critically successful, and I think a lot of folks really enjoyed seeing something new," he said. "From a sales perspective it was good, but not amazing. I think EA was hoping we'd do better."

"We made a PC version of Bulletstorm, and it didn't do very well on PC and I think a lot of that was due to piracy. It wasn't the best PC port ever, sure, but also piracy was a pretty big problem."

From what I've heard, saying that "it wasn't the best PC port ever," was something of an understatement, but whether or not that had anything to do with the piracy being so high is anybody's guess.
