Ghost Recon Future Soldier PC Release Date Announced, Specs and DRM revealed

April 6, 2012 by Mat Growcott

If you want to return to the crazy (and often violent) world of Tom Clancy but only via PC, this news is for you.

Ubisoft have announced details on the PC version of Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Future Soldier. If you've been waiting for this news, you've probably been expecting to have to wait a little bit longer than console gamers, and you would have been right. If the recommended configuration is anything to go by, however, you'll probably be quite happy with the game on max settings.

While the 360 and PS3 versions of the game are released in late May worldwide, PC buyers will need to wait until June 12th to purchase. Along with the release date Ubisoft revealed details on specs, features and DRM. Gamers can expect high quality PC graphics, DX11 specific features, exclusive text based chat, uPlay chat, a unique and easier to use invitation service and extended party functionality. There's also access to an online widget, that can be accessed at any time and gives access to friends, to you party and to you Ghost feed from any screen in the game. You'll also be able to customize your controls.

Minimum hardware requirements:

Supported Operating Systems: Windows® XP (with Service Pack 3)/Windows Vista® (with Service Pack 2)/ Windows 7® (with Service pack 1), both 32 bit & 64 bit versions
PROCESSOR: Intel Pentium D 3.0 Ghz or AMD Athlon64 X2 4400+ 2.2Ghz
RAM: 1GB Windows XP / 2GB Windows Vista or Windows 7
VIDEO CARD: 256 MB DirectX–compliant, Shader 4.0–enabled video card**
DIRECT X®: DirectX 9.0c
DVD-ROM DRIVE: DVD-ROM speed 4x, dual-layer drive
SOUND CARD: DirectX 9.0c – compliant sound card
HDD space : 25 GB

Recommended Configuration:
CPU: Intel Core2 Quad Q9450/ AMD Phenom II X4 940 or higher
RAM: 2 GB Windows® XP / 3 GB Windows Vista® & 7®
Graphics Card: 1024 MB DirectX–compliant, Shader 4.0–enabled video card based on nVidia GeForce GTX 460 or AMD/ATi HD 5850 or better

The press release also touches briefly on DRM and it's not too bad. A one time connection to the Ubisoft servers is needed, after that you're free to play the game as much as you like both online and offline. Certainly a step down from the system used in other Ubisoft games over the past few years.
