Ashes of the Singularity 1.2 Update Arrives

June 9, 2016 by Nick Monroe

Ashes of the Singularity’s 1.2 update has new units, global chat, an enhanced campaign mode, and more.

Ashes12FeaturedHeaderStardock’s Ashes of the Singularity released back at the end of March, and the development team has been chugging away at updates to the game since then. The most recent of these was Update 1.2, releasing today.

The game’s news page has all the details. The Ashes of the Singularity campaign now has fully voiced dialogue, along with 3 new missions and 2 new cut-scenes. Two new units have been added: The Eradicator is a long-range Substrate cruiser that’s expensive and slow but difficult to kill, and The Athena – a smaller and faster shorter-ranged PHC cruiser that comes equipped with lasers and plasma cannons. Other updates for the game include UI fixes and AI improvements, and a global chat function.

For those of you who don’t know what the game is about, Ashes of the Singularity is a massive and expansive real-time strategy game that takes place in a Sci-Fi futuristic war between the Post Human Coalition and the Substrate factions. While it has a strong multiplayer match backbone, the singleplayer mode puts you up against challenging AI foes. The most remarkable thing about this game is that it’ll put your computer through it’s paces. While it does run DirectX 11, Ashes of the Singularity became notable as one of the first mainstream video game titles to run DirectX 12.

Ashes of the Singularity is available on Steam. To learn more about the game, tune into their website, Facebook, and Twitter.
