Assassin’s Creed 3 Interview Explores Setting and Development

March 26, 2012 by Jacob Saylor

A new interview of AC3 explores the game’s setting.

Ass Rev

Game developers Alex Hutchinson, Francois Pelland, and Julien Laferriere sat down earlier today with the VOX Games team to give the industry a sneak peek at what we can expect in terms of the Setting in Assassin’s Creed 3. You’ll hear about the exploration, structure, and game mechanics involved in the upcoming action-adventure game.

Most notably, however, is the discussion on open-world aspects of the game. Hutchinson, Pelland, and Laferriere all touch on the importance they saw early on to make this game much bigger than the past Assassin’s Creed games. They note that because the game is taking place in the colonies of America during the Revolutionary War, they had a lot of ground to cover. Furthermore, they also discuss how the change in environment had such a major impact on the series. The shift from urban cities in Europe to the woodlands of North America’s Eastern coast ended up having a profound effect on development of the game.

Check out the video yourself, with all credit to the awesome team(s) over at TheVerge/VOX Games.
