Overwatch May Soon Allow Players To Save Highlights

June 1, 2016 by Dennis Patrick

It may get a whole lot easier sharing highlights for Overwatch.

Overwatch makes for some fun gameplay and you can bet there’s plenty of gamers out there who would like to share a highlight from their matches. However, the game could use a better system to allow a more seamless highlight saving and exporting experience.

While there are systems in place for the console version of Overwatch, PC users have been left in the dark when trying to get footage captured easily from a game match. After all, why record countless amounts of storage ahead of time through software applications such as Fraps, when it would be easier to use something in-game.

Turns out this is something that may be in the works over at Blizzard. Overwatch game director Jeff Kaplan said on official Overwatch forums that he would like to implement a system that would allow players to save and export highlights. Although it’s not clear just when we’ll see that feature implemented to Overwatch.

“The game will temporarily archive 5 highlights from your last play session. Playing only one game will only result in one highlight. Highlights are not currently saved if you close the game and come back. Our hope (and what we’re working toward) is to allow players to save highlights or export them to a video format someday.”

This would make for an easier experience to upload and share fun and memorable moments to friends online while playing Overwatch, though it may be awhile before we’ll get the ability to do so. For now, we’ll have to rely on software applications on PC or the share features already placed on the console platforms.
