Sony apparently wants their customers to trade in their PS5 consoles.

As shared on ResetERA by JAY_HORROR, Sony shared this message on PS App:
Get up to $ 400 when you trade in
Enjoy simple, hassle free service if you choose to trade in with Back Market.
…Trade-in price is based on the average promised trade-in amount quoted for a PS5 Standard console with two or more controllers in Grade 0 condition, based on trade-in orders created between August 23 and September 22, 2026.
Actual amounts may vary depending on the console model, condition, storage capacity, included accessories, and refurbisher inspection.
Lest you get confused, Back Market is not owned by Sony. It’s a 3rd party reseller that specializes in trade-ins and refurbishing products to sell back.
Interestingly, XBOX sent emails out two weeks ago asking their consumers if they wanted to trade in their consoles for up to $ 375. The consensus among gamers is both need more active customers who still regularly play and pay on their consoles.
It also suggests that the PS5’s high console sales amount to mere bragging rights, if there’s a number of PlayStation fans who don’t really play games.
