Nintendo’s Switch 2 console has been jailbroken, a little over a year after it was just launched. But Nintendo doesn’t have to sweat it quite as much as Sony does.

As explained on GBATemp, developer pepsipu claims to have developed an exploit called ns2jb. Ns2jb does not fully compromise the Switch 2, but it allows hackers to execute code in the console, with some hard limits.
So, you can’t run video game backups or run an LLM in a Switch 2 with this. But pepsipu demonstrated they were able to hack Mario Kart World to add Angry Birds’ Red and Sanrio’s Cinnamorolll in as racers.
As some of you may have guessed, ns2jb takes advantage of an eShop title, which in this case is SmileBoom’s SmileBASIC 4. This is a simplified version of BASIC intended for educational purposes.
SmileBoom has been making SmileBASIC for Nintendo platforms since 2011 on the 3DS. It’s regrettable that all of this may lead to them having to stop publishing this app in the future.
The big question around this of course is if ns2jb was made with generative AI, which we don’t know for now.
