Mads Mikkelsen has just been revealed for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4.
In the game’s latest trailer for Tokyo Game Show, Mads appears at the very end, threatening John Price.
Most of the trailer sheds more light on the plot, revealing that Price is working with Las Almas Cartel leader Valeria Garza, and that he is being hunted down by his former Task Force 141 operatives, Ghost and Gaz.
There’s more information on the plot in the Call of Duty blog, but Activision only vaguely alludes to a character known as the Archer, saying “You won’t have long to wait to find out…”
It’s impossible to miss how much Mads’ appearance in this game resembles the role that made him famous; Le Chiffre, the banker who funded terrorists in Casino Royale. We’re not betting on Infinity Ward recreating that torture scene, but they clearly aren’t shy about leaning into it. And that could be a spoiler in itself…
