Could we see an Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem remaster in the future? That’s the question Stephen Kick, the CEO of Nightdive Studios, seems to want all of us to ask.
When a fan asked him if we could ever see the game again on social media, he said this:
Eternal Darkness is one of my all-time favorites and it deserves the treatment I know @NightdiveStudio is capable of. Keep your eye on our Deep Dives…
He linked to Nightdive’s YouTube channel, where they have the Deep Dive podcast, but we didn’t see a dedicated episode to Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem.
We should remember that this game was published by Nintendo on the GameCube in 2002, and that’s the only time it ever released. Nintendo has fastidiously renewed the trademark for Eternal Darkness through the years.
Nightdive does have Nintendo’s number, but the company turned down their offer to remaster GoldenEye 007 a few years ago. Could Nintendo change their mind now, and even allow a multiplatform port?
It seems we’ll have to wait for Stephen to bring it up in their next podcast.
