The PS5 might finally be getting jailbroken, six years after launch.
As explained by Modded Hardware, the hacker in question is one Jordy. Jordy found 2 vulnerabilities called UAFs or use-after-frees. These take advantage of the way the PS5 allocates and checks memory to hack into the system.
Jordy reported the UAFs to HackerOne, an organization that pays bounties for exploits and hacks. However, HackerOne told them that these were reported already, so he won’t get paid for them.
As a result, Jordy has told the public that the hack to exploit these UAFs will be released soon. So, if you have a PS5 at firmware update 13.60, this hack will allow you to completely jailbreak your PS5. If you want to hack your console, you should take your console offline and avoid updates.
If Jordy’s claims are true, this hack could be as substantial as Fusée Gelée was to the Nintendo Switch; opening the Pandora’s box for gamers to do all the things Sony don’t want them to do with their PS5 consoles.
