We are heading into September, and that means there are a ton of new and exciting games coming our way. But let’s not forget about some of the exciting new game announcements and updates that happened this month. There were quite a few reveals and updates, but we decided to pick out some of our particular favorites to feature in this list.
Spine
Spine has been on the radar for quite a few interested players. We’ve been eager to try this game that looks to mash up The Matrix and John Wick. Set in a futuristic cyberpunk world, players take on the role of Redline, a street punk who finds themselves in deep trouble after a mafia heist goes wrong. With their brother taken, Redline, equipped with a sentient combat implant, will fight through the neon-soaked streets to get him back. It was in August that we finally got a release window attached to this game. If everything goes according to plan, we might actually get our hands on Spine sometime in the summer of 2027.
Nodusfall
Nodusfall is coming from the folks behind Genshin Impact, and it looks to be quite different. Players are stepping into a world that has become corrupted. The gods have left, and in their place are massive creatures, infected by an entity. Players are said to step into the role of a Weaver, a powerful being tasked with restoring balance to the world. It’s caught some eyes since it was first announced, and we’re intrigued. But at the moment, we’re left waiting to see what platforms this game will release on and just when we’ll get our hands on a copy.
Crimson Desert Enhanced
If you enjoyed Crimson Desert or have yet to give it a try, there’s a new edition revealed this month. Crimson Desert Enhanced introduces new content from the development team, giving players a more complete gameplay experience. Here you’ll find new cutscenes and storyline moments, along with some additional voice-over work. The game was a hit, and while it certainly has some players who felt it fell short of expectations, the development team hasn’t slowed down, giving players more than a few new reasons to stick around Pywel a little while longer.
1001 Threads of Mizan
Thousands of years ago, humanity and Jinn thrived together. Creating an incredible civilization, harmony was more than peaceful. Until it wasn’t. A war broke out, leaving humanity victorious. Trapping the Jinn along with their king in its own realm, peace once again spread across the lands. Fast forward to the present day, and a fisherman unknowingly unleashed the king and their army. Now three unlikely heroes must work together in hopes of stopping the Jinn from seeking revenge and taking over both realms. At the moment, we haven’t been given a release date, but hopefully we won’t have to wait long for the developers to give us a better idea of when we’ll be able to play this one.
Stage Tour
For a few years, Rock Band and Guitar Hero ruled the gaming scene. Fans couldn’t get enough of these games, but after so long, they became stagnant. Eventually they dried up, and we’ve moved on. But if you have that itch to give them another go, Stage Tour might be of interest. It’s a new rhythm game all about building up a band and going on tour. It provides the same experience that rocked the living room for so many party game sessions years ago. With a robust collection of songs, get ready to hit the virtual stage and give the crowd a show they won’t forget.
Age Twisters
If you enjoyed cooperative games like It Takes Two, then check out Age Twisters. This is another two-player-focused game where you follow a grandfather and granddaughter. The duo set out to find the missing mother of the granddaughter. However, to find out what happened, they’ll need to make use of a mysterious bracelet that allows them to change their ages. Communication is key as you figure out what age group will help the duo solve a puzzle or maneuver around an object.
Tarae: The Unbound
Enjoy top-down action RPGs? Here’s a new one coming out called Tarae: The Unbound. Players are tossed into a fantasy world that has succumbed to chaos. You’ll step into the role of a hero who sets out to restore order. Along the way, you’ll explore the broken world, fight off monsters, and seek out better equipment. Will this game surpass Diablo or Path of Exile? Only time will tell. Unfortunately, we don’t know how long we’ll have to wait before we can try this one out for ourselves.
Exterminauts
Exterminauts was another game that caught plenty of attention this month. Players are tossed into the future where megacorporations seek out claims on a planet. Trouble is, some of these areas are infested with hostile alien life. That’s going to throw a wrench in the plans of these corps. Fortunately, that’s where you come along. You and your crew will take on a contract to land on the surface and clean out these beasts for a quick payday.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Songs of the Past
We knew for a little while now about Songs of the Past, but it was this month that we got a look into the upcoming DLC. This is the final expansion coming to The Witcher 3 and the last big journey of Geralt before The Witcher 4 drops. Players are going to the land of Letten, where a new slew of quests await, along with a dark curse that only a Witcher can solve.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered
While we are getting a new DLC expansion for The Witcher 3, it was also revealed that the game itself is getting a remastered release. Players who already own a copy of The Witcher 3 are getting a free upgrade. You will find a slew of upgrades to the overall game, including enhancements to visuals, performance, and gameplay. This free update will launch on September 29, 2026. Best of all, it should give you ample time to finish up the campaign and the already released DLC before Songs of the Past drops into the marketplace.
