Jez Corden has had to debunk a fake rumor about Xbox based on things he said taken out of context.
The rumor stems from something he said in the latest episode of the Xbox Two podcast. To clear up confusion, Jez said this on Twitter:
I never said Xbox is considering pulling out of Steam btw.
He gave more clarification later:
I’ll report what I’ve heard about “how Xbox plans to show up on PC” tomorrow.
But, there’s no evidence Microsoft is planning to quit Steam. Steam is so much income rn.
I figure they’d only pull out of Steam if that fact were to change, but I see no reason to think it would.
Jez also clarified he was responding to a superchat, which is why he took a few seconds to consider the scenario seriously.
Xbox is in a particularly vulnerable place following their great reset, so even though CEO Asha Sharma intimated they were open to anything, it was really unlikely that this was even on the docket. It’s certainly a much easier decision to cut off their signature games from PlayStation.
