Fable Fortune Starts Kickstarter Campaign Tomorrow

May 30, 2016 by Nick Monroe

Lionhead Veterans form Flaming Fowl Studios – plan to release a Fable related card game.

FableFortuneHeaderAll in the world of Fable is not lost. Despite the closure of Lionhead Studios, the legacy of the franchise is reborn with Flaming Fowl Studios. This studio founded by Lionhead veterans plan to continue making games related to the Fable series, their first being a card game called Fable Fortune.

According to IGN, Lionhead secretly developed this free-to-play Fable digital card game during the last 18 months of the studio’s operation. Microsoft has approved of Flaming Fowl’s usage of Fable‘s license, but they need a publisher backing of some kind to finish the game. Kickstarter seems to be the avenue the team is planning to use.

It’ll begin tomorrow at 10 AM ET, and have a initial goal of £250,000 in four weeks. The team plans to have Fable Fortune ready for a closed beta just a few weeks after the end of the campaign, with plans to reach PC and Xbox One for open beta by October 2016, with a full release in 2017.

Much like Hearthstone, Fable Fortune will have eight different heroes who battle each other in an attempt to drag the opposing side’s health to zero. The team plans to expand on the virtual card game genre by including better 3D art, online co-op against AI bosses, Trophy cards, and a leveling system with the cards used most often.

The game uses as much Fable source material as possible, going as far as using concept art that never even made it’s way to any of the main video games in the original series. The game will have aspects of Fable within it, like quests during a match that demand you cast certain card types, and spending enough mana to make some kind of morality choice that transforms your heroes.

The team’s website can be found here, and they’ve got a Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube set up as well.
