Fans Noticed GTA V Enhanced Water Systems Broke After The Last Patch

April 2, 2026 by Ryan Parreno

This is what you expect when maintaining an online game this long.

Fans noticed a problem with GTA V Enhanced after the game’s latest patch.

Lucas7yoshi shared this observation on Twitter:

In the PC Enhanced, PS5 and XSX/XSS versions of GTA 5 water currents have zero effect.

While I can’t confirm 100%, I believe this is caused by the new graphic pipeline from RDR2 used now.

The data for the currents is stored in the *texture* of the water model, which is quite different to how pretty much every other aspect of physics is defined.

This being such an edge case, their logic to read the data must have broken with the upgrade, and it went unnoticed.

We’ll share the clip below but it shows that if the player falls into the water, even near waterfalls, the water doesn’t push the player downwards.

This sort of thing is par for the course with maintaining a multiplatform game with an online component, but at least for now, Rockstar is playing the April fool without intending to.
