Videotechuk has brought up some good points about GTA 6’s launch.

He is chiming in on the story that Rockstar may have delayed the game’s physical launch on disc, sometime between three weeks to a year after its digital-only launch.
First off, he pointed out that Red Dead Redemption 2 leaked weeks before its October 2018 release. Because of this, both the Red Dead Redemption remaster and Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition were released on digital before physical.
A fan asked how a digital only release could curtail leaks and spoilers. In videotechuk’s words:
The content is encrypted during pre-downloads. At midnight the key is fetched to decrypt the files.
Finally, he shared his suggestion to Rockstar, on Twitter:
Rockstar should do a global release for GTAVI and completely skip local midnight launches for good. New Zealand is 12 hours ahead in the UK, it’s a ton of time for people to get spoiled on the 18th.
We think it’s possible that Rockstar planned for a global launch, and they just hadn’t announced it yet.
