There’s a really scary bug right now in Grand Theft Auto Online.

GTAWeb contributor Harryodini588 raised the alarm as early as the start of this week. He made this announcement last Sunday, December 14, 2025:
GAME-BREAKING BUG with Mansion Garages + Carrer Progress + Awards in #GTAOnline
‼LOGGING IN ON YOUR OWN RISK!!! ‼
My Discord co-admin @btwedwin1
just hopped into GTA Online and found out about a COMPLETE LOSS OF
‼ALL VEHICLES FROM HIS MANSION GARAGE, NOT ONLY THEIR MODIFICATIONS!!
‼ ALL AWARDS from the new “A Safehouse in the Hills” category: reset to 0
‼CAREER PROGRESS OF “Knoway Out”:
reset from ~ $4 Million to $0, but the rest of the checkmarks are still there
Harryodini588 also shared screenshot evidence in the succeeding Twitter thread.
Why Doesn’t Everyone Know About This Yet?
Not every Grand Theft Auto Online player has experienced this issue. While the bug is really scary, it does not seem to be widespread enough to make the grapevine, go viral online, and/or hit the news.
We also don’t know why it’s happening or if there’s anything triggering it. We have only seen European players talking about it, but that does not rule out that the issue also exists in other parts of the world
Is There A Fix For This Yet?
We’re skipping ahead in the thread but Harryodini588 revealed that his friend got his items back after talking to Rockstar Support and following his instructions. We’ve opted not to share all the details here because the solution may be different for others. But if you’re curious, you can read about it here and here.
It’s Not Over Yet
In his more recent updates yesterday, Harryodini588 shared multiple accounts that Grand Theft Auto Online across different PC and console platforms also experienced losing their vehicles. Once again, if you’re inclined, you can go through the different accounts of this happening here.
Harryodini588 is doing some personal testing of a friend’s Grand Theft Auto Online account, even alluding to messing with his biorhythm and skipping sleep. We wish the best for Harry, and hope everyone remembers gaming is a hobby and we should all take care of our health.
We Should Wait For Rockstar’s Word
Ultimately, Rockstar should be able to resolve these issues. If we were to speculate, this may be a problem with syncing data on their Grand Theft Auto Online account on their platform and on the cloud.
We should wait on Rockstar to give an update to the public as they see fit. As of this writing, the English language Rockstar Support website has no open tickets for this issue, and they have also not made an update on their Twitter account.
Since there’s no announcement of a major issue, there’s also nothing being said about how to avoid triggering this issue. Hopefully, Rockstar can address this issue soon. They may end up just saying that this was a brief problem that’s been addressed.
