LTT Breakdown The Steam Machine Price

December 1, 2025 by Dennis Patrick

Will it be a big seller?

Valve has been cooking up hardware lately. They delivered a VR headset that was successful, and then they delivered the behemoth of a handheld PC, the Steam Deck. However, before that, they tried to give us a Steam Machine. Those didn’t fare too well and were essentially long forgotten by consumers. Now they are back with these small PCs, which are now getting far more attention than ever before.

While the announcement took consumers by surprise and they are easily anticipating these Steam Machines to do wonders in the market, there’s one major question left unanswered. What we’re all waiting on is just how much a Steam Machine will cost us. That’s one area that the folks at Valve have been quiet on. Despite that, there are plenty of guesses and speculations online about how much we’ll be shelling out.

Linus Tech Tips Weighs In On Steam Machine Cost

Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson recently shared a new video from Linus Tech Tips. This YouTube channel has a massive following because it mainly focuses on PCs and components. As a result, they have a pretty good idea of the industry and market pricing at the moment. With this in mind, the Linus Tech Tips channel factored in how much the Steam Machine will cost consumers.

It was noted that using the branded parts for the components the Steam Machine runs on would cost about $900, according to current pricing. Things could go even higher if this trend continues; after all, it was recently reported that Xbox Series console prices could rise due to shortages of specific components. Most of the components that might raise the price of the Steam Machine are going towards AI.

However, it might not be $900 we’ll be paying, as this is for branded parts. There’s a chance that some of these non-branded prices could see a considerable drop. Likewise, because Valve is selling these Steam Machines directly to consumers, you won’t have to deal with inflated prices from retailers.

If all this is factored in, then Linus Tech Tips believes we would see the Steam Machine come in at $700. That, again, depends on current component pricing. Of course, it’s just a guess at the moment as we’re all waiting for Valve to reveal the official price point of the hardware.
