WWE 2K25 Makes Obvious Mistake With John Cena Cap (Or Did They?)

October 30, 2025 by Ryan Parreno

This is one of the strangest things to come out of the worries around AI.

WWE 2K25 seems to have made a huge mistake for the John Cena Farewell Tour Edition Pack.

As shared by KRadiation on Twitter, one of Cena’s selectable caps has his slogan written up all wrong. Instead of saying “Never Quit Never Back Down”, it says, “Never Quit Never Suck It”.

What’s Going On Here?

For those who aren’t wrestling fans, “Suck It” was a slogan for the Attitude era WWE faction D-Generation X. It’s possible that this copy was intended for Triple H or Shawn Michaels, and made it here by mistake.

Keener eyes may have noticed other changes in the cap as well. There is a caption at the bottom that has also been changed. While it originally said “Kick Ass, Take Names”, it now says “Hustle Loyalty Respect.”

At the center of the cap’s logo is a skull. The new logo has changed the design so it is less recognizable as a skull, and it looks more like a mask with a fake mustache.

Other outlets have been reporting that this looks like it was generated by AI. But that may not be the case.

Was This A Mistake? Maybe Not

Redditor Certified KJ18 has emerged with this revelation:

Lets just clear this up. The hat in the image is from 2K18 from the DLC ’06 Cena. It says that on purpose. The actual accurate hat is also in the suite, it comes from 2K23’s Cena Showcase.

Now, it’s hard to trace professional wrestler’s slogans in general. Even if you are a hardcore Cena fan, it’s easy to forget when this phrase or that got started and became part of his persona.

But we can make some guesses on why this seemingly nonsensical phrase came about. In 2006, John Cena defended the WWE World Championship successfully against Triple H. In that event, both Triple H and Shawn Michaels started using their infamous crotch chop.

Later that year, the two brought back DX, mainly to feud against the Spirit Squad. DX didn’t feud with Cena in 2006.

We had a hard time tracing if Cena used this slogan in a promo, or if it was just something WWE made as an insider joke. But this could have definitely been something that Cena said or had put in his gear as a reaction to his feuds against Triple H or Shawn Michaels.

There’s certainly a level of irony that an accurate historical recreation is now seen as proof of AI. But this is only because this piece of Cena’s history is as obscure as it gets. Maybe some true hardcore Cena fans will trace where this comes from and share it with the rest of us.
