Rockstar Is Still Hiring For GTA 6’s “Largest Game Launch In History”

September 15, 2025 by Ryan Parreno

Hype incoming? Perhaps not.

Rockstar Games may be hyping fans, but those fans should also be a bit concerned.

As shared by GTA 6 Countdown, the company has put up two job openings for their New York Office.

The Senior Frontend Engineer

This opening is a bit more innocuous. Rockstar just needs more people in the team working on their UIs. It also describes their role like this:

With the approach of Grand Theft Auto VI, and other long-term Rockstar plans, the successful candidate will be working on bleeding edge technology with an internationally established team, while having great attention to detail, being a strong team player and have excellent communication skills.

For this job opening, one could argue that Rockstar just needs more people to work on all their games overall. But the other listing raises as much questions as it gives answers.

The Big Shebang

Rockstar also needs a lead software engineer for their New York office. And they provide this description for that listing:

With the continued growth of Grand Theft Auto Online and the upcoming release of Grand Theft Auto 6, the successful candidate will lead both the evolution and operation of the data platform supporting what will be the largest game launch in history, ensuring it scales to deliver an exceptional experience for millions of players worldwide.

The Largest Game Launch In History?

Rockstar is just as certain as all the analysts that they are holding onto the biggest launch of a single video game title in the industry’s history. Given both the financial success and mainstream popularity of the franchise, that’s not a hasty prediction at all.

Some fans seem to think that Rockstar was somehow forgetting that they were working on this game that’s taken them five years to make? But even if fans got excited to see Rockstar refer to GTA 6 this way, there should also be cause for concern.

The Real Message Isn’t In The Words

What fans really need to be asking themselves is why is Rockstar still hiring? We already know that they delayed the release of the game to May 2026. It seemed like they just needed that extra time to polish, and maybe get their online services in order.

We also can’t ignore that Take-Two has made changes so that Rockstar developers work reasonable hours.  But if more of these job openings come up in the future, that should escalate the concern we have for this game. Are the rumors true that it’s getting delayed again? Or is all of this to accelerate their work to make their deadline?

Rockstar isn’t likely to comment on this in the near future. We’ll see what comes up in the grapevine soon.
