These past few years within the game industry has had plenty of focus on classic video game titles. Game development studios would bring back a variety of video games we enjoyed on previous generations of consoles and give them a facelift. With these remastered editions of different classic video games being pumped out into the market, it had IBT wondering if EA will follow suit with the Battlefield franchise.
There has been a clear division when it comes to first-person shooters. One side you have the heavily popular Battlefield franchise which only grew in popularity after the announcement of Battlefield 1. On the other side is Call of Duty which was not greeted by too much excitement with the announcement of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. That, however, changed when it was revealed that Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare would be remastered for the latest generation of consoles.
While the tides may not have changed completely when it comes to the battle between Call of Duty and Battlefield, the announcement of arguably the most popular Call of Duty title being remastered certainly helped Activision gain more traction with their fans.
IBT recently got a chance to speak with EA Studios executive vice president Patrick Soderlund. During their interview, the question was brought up on if EA would have any interest in going back to remaster the earlier Battlefield titles.
“I wouldn’t say never. We’re not doing it right now, we’re focused on Battlefield 1 – but if we think the fans want that I see no reason we couldn’t.”
So it seems as if the decision on if a Battlefield title would be remastered rests completely on the fans. If you had to choose, what Battlefield title would you like to see remastered?
