Halo 5: Guardians may never come out on the PC, but its mapmaking tool, Forge, will be released on Windows 10 later this year, Microsoft has announced.
Forge will be a free download for anyone who owns Windows 10 and will be accessible through the Windows Marketplace. The download features new controls designed specifically for PC users in mind, so you’ll be able to create maps using a mouse and keyboard and not have to worry about struggling to place objects and the like with a gamepad.
Here’s what it supports:
- Keyboard & Mouse Support – For the first time ever, Forgers will have the option of using a keyboard & mouse allowing for more precision and control than ever before.
- Increased Resolution – Support for multiple resolutions including 4k.
- Test and Play with Friends – Enlist the help of Friends to help build, test, and play your Forge creations on Windows 10.
- Build on Windows 10 and Publish to Xbox One – Experiences built on Windows 10 can be published to and played on Xbox One, opening the doors for countless new experiences to be enjoyed by players all over the world.
It seems kind of odd that the company hasn’t announced Halo 5 for Windows, yet is releasing its map maker on the platform. Time will tell whether Microsoft will ever port the game to the PC.
