The Nintendo Switch 2 is still quite elusive. Fans have been hunting down units online through retailers while avoiding resellers. If you want to avoid the inflated price, retailers are the way to go. However, finding a unit is easier said than done. It appears that when it comes to Walmart, your best bet for securing a unit will be to get a Walmart+ membership.
Walmart is restocking its Nintendo Switch 2 units today, and the first-come, first-served option will actually be locked behind a paywall. An early access feature is being incorporated into this item, which will likely remain for a while. Thanks to The Gamer, we’re learning that the Nintendo Switch 2 restock at Walmart will first offer consumers the opportunity to purchase a unit an hour before everyone else. However, you’ll need to be a member of Walmart+.
This is a typical subscription service that aims to provide benefits to shoppers, including free deliveries, various deals, and, in the case of the Nintendo Switch 2, early access to highly sought-after items. However, to obtain this deal, you’ll need to throw down either the $12.95 a month fee or go for an annual subscription at $98.
As noted on the store listing page for the Nintendo Switch 2, those with this membership will not only get an alert on when stock is coming through the store listing page but also when you’ll be able to acquire a unit. For instance, today, those with a membership will have access to purchase a unit first for an hour.
Starting at 9 PM ET today, you’ll get access to purchase a unit an hour ahead of standard consumers. After an hour, any remaining units will be available to the rest of the online consumers. So, again, your best option would be to have a membership and get an hour’s head start on potentially purchasing a unit.
