Another quick chapter in Doom: The Dark Ages pits the Doom Guy against an impossible abomination from beyond the stars. Outside the Sentinel Facility, an immense being has been summoned that’s ripping the place apart with too many tentacles — it’s your job to destroy the tentacles, close the Demonic Portals and save the Sentinels. There are only a handful of collectibles to find here, and only two chapter challenges. It might be short but we’re still going to explain where to find everything and 100% this stage.
Challenges | Chapter 13
- Deft Dragon: Perform a Perfect Dodge 5 times.
When flying with your dragon mount, perform a perfect dodge five times — you can perform perfect dodges against Hell Carrier ships, the Tentacle Weak Spots or the Giant Cacodemon monsters. You can easily get five just by shooting down the two Hell Carriers at the start of the map. This count is cumulative so you can restart the level to grab any more Perfect Dodges you need to make to complete the challenge.
- Veteran Pursuer: Chase and destroy 2 Hell Fighter Ships.
Hell Fighter Ships are nimble enemies you’ll only spot when flying your dragon. Immediately enter into flight mode when you see one to chase it down and use the mounted autogun to deal damage. Learn more about where and when the fighters spawn in the level below.
All Collectibles & Secrets Locations | Chapter 13
There are only two types of “collectibles” in this short level. You’ll find Demonic Essence when destroying the two Demonic Portals — which are main objectives — or locate and shoot down the Hell Fighter Ships. These nimble enemies weave through the environment. Chase them and shoot them down to complete a challenge.
Demonic Essence: Leaders spawn at each of the Demonic Portals. Land at one of the Portal Sites and dismantle the army of demons to remove the Leader’s shield — the first location is on the upper area of the Sentinel Station. Clear the Hell Carriers to create a landing zone. The Mancubus Leader drops an Ammo Capacity Demonic Essence. You’ll earn a permanent increase to Reaver Ammo.
- NOTE: You can’t miss the Demonic Essence collectibles in this level. Both are found in story-required arena battles.
Hell Fighter Ship: One spawns directly after destroying a Hell Portal. Be prepared to start chasing it! Destroying Hell Fighters will earn you bonus gold that is not part of the usual 100% collectibles — and you’ll need to destroy at least two to earn the Veteran Pursuer challenge for this chapter. There are more than two Hell Fighters so don’t give up if one gets away.
- NOTE: Hell Fighter Ships will spawn after destroying Demonic Portals and by destroying tentacle weak spots. They won’t spawn every time, but one will spawn after each.
Hell Fighter Ship x2: Fly to the bottom of the center of the Sentinel Station. There’s a tube-shaped cylinder in the center of the base — fly to the lowest level to spot two Hell Fighter Ships taking off. You can complete the challenge here if you manage to follow and destroy both.
Demonic Essence: Found at the Demonic Portal drop zone at the top of the Sentinel Station tower. This is only one of two short on-foot sections in this level. Defeat the Leader Revenant to earn +10 Maximum Armor.
And that’s all the collectibles in this very short, very quick level. The next level is a whole lot longer.
