Atomic Arcade Finally Gives Us Our First Look At Their GI Joe Snake Eyes Game

May 14, 2025 by Ryan Parreno

Got to get tough.

Atomic Arcade has finally shared their first official preview of their GI Joe Snake Eyes game.

Hasbro announced after the success of Baldur’s Gate 3 that they would make new plans to expand in the video game business. They officially announced the GI Joe Snake Eyes game in 2022, as well as its developer, a new studio under Hasbro called Atomic Arcade. Atomic Arcade is currently a subsidiary under Wizards of the Coast.

Atomic Arcade shared this post on their official Twitter account:

We are hard at work on our game centered on Snake Eyes, the legendary ninja/commando from G.I. Joe, and we wanted to share a glimpse of the awesome work our team is doing. Here is a peek at our Snake Eyes character model rendered in-engine. #gaming #videogames #gamedev #GIJoe

And you can see the pictures above and below, the two pictures are extreme closeups of Snake Eyes’ torso. One picture shows him brandishing a gun, while the other shows him holding a sword, and the sword is visibly bloodied.

And just like that, Atomic Arcade has said a lot without saying anything at all. There’s a high degree of photorealistic detail to Snake Eyes’ costume and armor. Of particular interest is the vambrace that has an embossed lung (East Asian dragon) decoration pattern around it.

It probably won’t make sense to try to reverse engineer what game engine these visuals were made from, but the general point should have been made. If Atomic Arcade is not using Unreal 5, they’re using a game engine that is good enough to do the same job of displaying high detail computer graphics, with all the bells and whistles. We see that these images also demonstrate realistic lighting, as well as simulating field of view and camera focus.

We reported on a rumor that Atomic Arcade is getting pretty ambitious, by making the GI Joe Snake Eyes game an open world affair with sandbox elements. We think many fans will be happy with a cinematic experience that allows you to relive Snake Eyes’ past, but if they want to make a real impact post-Elden Ring, making an open world is the way to go.

Atomic Arcade isn’t giving us enough to figure out how far along the GI Joe Snake Eyes game’s development is. Just don’t be surprised if Hasbro and Atomic Arcade brings a trailer by this year’s The Game Awards, if not sooner than that.
