Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour Gets Official Price and Nintendo Really Wants You To Try It Out!

April 7, 2025 by Todd Black

Seal of approval?

While the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct may not have delivered everything that everyone wanted or lived up to the mighty expectations that fans had for it, there’s no doubt that it had some key surprises that no one saw coming. Some of them were hardware-based, like with the webcam features or the refined voice chat built into the system and its controller. Then, there were some gaming surprises, like the Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour. This “tech demo” of a game was shown off in the Direct and is meant to help get fans “acquainted” with the system and all that it offers.

In an interview with IGN, Nintendo exec Bill Trinnen gave some reasons why the Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour might be something that gamers will want to try out, even pointing out the recent showing that happened on the Nintendo Treehouse live segment:

“It’s an interesting product. We’re actually getting ready today, we’re going to be doing some Nintendo Treehouse Live segments and covering a lot of games in detail. That’s one of them. And I think people will be able to see through Treehouse Live probably a little bit more maybe than you were able to see on the show floor. It’s a pretty robust piece of software. There’s a lot of great detail in there.”

The “tour” is meant to highlight the ins and outs of the system so that gamers can not just appreciate what’s there, but get a handle on its features before “testing them out” on other mainline games. Plus, there are some mini-games within the “tour” itself, so players can get a more in-depth training experience with the new Joy-Cons.

“For some people, I think there are people who are particularly interested in the tech and the specs of the system and things like that, for them I think it’s going to be a great product. It’s really for people that want more information about the system rather than necessarily a quick intro to everything it does. And for that reason and just the amount of care and work that the team put into it, I think it was decided that, ‘Yeah, this feels like $9.99 is not an exorbitant price. It feels like a good value for what you’re getting out of the product.’”

Only time will tell if the $10 price point will make it a hit. Then again, with it being in the launch of the system, people might be willing to shell it out to have something else to play.
