Capcom Spotlight And Monster Hunter Wilds Showcase Event Coming Next Week

January 30, 2025 by Ryan Parreno

Capcom follows the Xbox Developer Direct with the second big presentation of 2025.

Capcom will have the next big presentation of 2025 next month. But also, it’ll be next week!

As they revealed on their site, there will be a Capcom Spotlight event, to be followed immediately by a Monster Hunter Wilds Showcase. That sounds a lot like the Xbox Games Showcase that Microsoft holds every June, but Capcom’s event will be considerably shorter at approximately 35 minutes.

The event will be coming this February 4, 2025, at 2 PM PST.

Aside from Monster Hunter Wilds, Capcom will be presenting Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics, which already released last September. They will also show two games that are still on the way. Capcom Fighting Collection 2 is scheduled for 2025, and Onimusha: Way of the Sword is scheduled for 2026.

It certainly appears that Capcom chose to release their spate of classic fighting game collections close next to each other, in the lead up to their other video game revivals. As we just found out that Capcom has recently greenlit an Okami sequel, we may expect them to reveal more remasters, rereleases, and new sequels for classic games in the coming years.

One can certainly wonder why Capcom is featuring Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics alongside these other titles. Given that this isn’t a long presentation, they may simply choose to announce the title’s sales, and some potential DLC or extra content. Marvel Comics – yes, the actual comic book publisher – recently announced that they would feature Capcom artist Bengus’ art from these games for some comic book cover variants, so Capcom could show us something like that.

Capcom Fighting Collection 2 has some SNK crossover games, so they may also have some announcements related to their working relationship with SNK. But everyone would be right to expect that this will mostly be a major showcase for Monster Hunter Wilds. Capcom has not adjusted their sales forecasts for this financial year, even after their underperformance in the most recent quarters, based solely on their confidence in Monster Hunter Wilds.

Capcom has been careful to drip feed information about this game, but this will most likely be their big pitch in the lead to the game’s release. And there’s some possibility that if Monster Hunter Wilds is coming to the Switch 2, that Capcom will announce it here too.

We expect that Capcom won’t be showing that much of Onimusha: Way of the Sword. But since Capcom also has it in the docket, they should have something major to announce that they want us to know this early on. We’re just going to have to wait and see what Capcom’s plans will be, but thankfully, it won’t be that long a wait.
