French Retailer Makes Multiple Claims About Nintendo Switch 2 Launch

January 13, 2025 by Todd Black

They just…keep…coming!

If you’ve noticed, today is another day that the Nintendo Switch 2 is getting a literal cavalcade of news about its upcoming/impending release/reveal. Yes, we’re using multiple variations of words to define it because we still don’t know everything about it, and Nintendo isn’t exactly the most forthcoming about things at the moment. In fact, it’s actually gone after people like Genki for the various claims that those companies and people have made about the new system. Is that stopping people, companies, and stores from releasing “new information” about the system and when it might come out? You should know the answer to that by now.

The latest piece of “news” comes from a French retailer who states that they’re “ready for pre-orders” with the Nintendo Switch 2 and have dropped various pieces of information about the system. For example, they state that the price of the system will be about 400 Euros, which honestly translates to about $400 even with the current conversion rate. That does seem reasonable, as it’s a little more expensive than the OG Switch, but still MUCH cheaper than the PS5 and the Xbox Series X.

Another interesting tidbit is that they claim the Switch 2 will have about 25 games at launch. That honestly feels like a “bit much,” however, if it’s true, it could speak to how Nintendo wants to ensure that there are plenty of titles to enjoy on the Switch 2 before fully dropping its massive roster for the rest of the year. To that end, many of those games are likely to be ports or “lesser titles” that aren’t exactly “must-buys” on day one but will help “pad the wait” between the next big game release.

Along those lines, the game prices will be about 70-80 Euros, which could mean that Nintendo is increasing the gaming prices to match current inflation and such, which Sony and Microsoft have been doing regularly, while Nintendo has been doing it rather sparingly.

A bundle edition was also revealed for the new console, which isn’t that surprising, as that’s something that could easily get people to buy it for the sake of a “sale,” and the retailer also teased a key game that would be a part of the launch.

While this is all compelling in one form or another, we must remind you once again that when it comes to things like this, you must not take it at face value. We’ll only know the truth when Nintendo reveals the console.
