We’re fresh into the 2025 calendar year. After our holiday breaks and recharging the old batteries, the gaming industry is starting to make headway in its marketing materials. There are tons of incredible-looking games we can’t wait to play. Likewise, various media industry events will be held this year to highlight updates to these games coming out within 2025 and announcements for games coming beyond the calendar year. One of the first events most might be tuning into is the Xbox Developer Direct.
Not long ago, we saw industry insiders tease that Microsoft would be getting ready to announce their Xbox Developer Direct presentation. Yesterday, Microsoft finally confirmed that an event was coming out and it would be happening on January 23, 2025. Likewise, we already have some insight into the games being featured. However, one industry insider is suggesting that this could be a bigger event than what Microsoft is currently letting on.
Jez Corden, a notable industry insider and the EIC for Windows Central commented on X with the suggestion. Now, we don’t have anything else from Jez, but it does help hype up the event. After all, we know that one mystery game will be showcased at the event.
Currently, this event will feature updates from the teams working on Doom: The Dark Ages, South of Midnight, and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. We don’t know what the updates will pertain to for those three games exactly, but they will have a prominent spot at the event. However, as mentioned, at least one mystery game will appear at this event. We don’t know what team is involved, so we’ll have to wait for that event to roll around and see what Microsoft has planned.
Could we get a new big game reveal during the event, or will it perhaps be an update to another highly anticipated release? This game will continue to be speculated on by fans online leading up to the presentation later this month.
