The last month of the year is always an interesting one, and not just for the obvious “it’s the end of the year!” vibes that many tend to enjoy basking in. In the entertainment world, especially with video games, companies either tend to go all out for things or just drop a few key things so that they can get some big sales in line with the Christmas season. If you’re a PlayStation gamer and you’re hoping that this month has a few titles in store for you to enjoy, you’re in luck! Marvel Rivals and others are coming out over the next several weeks to check out.
You can see the full list of games and when they’re dropping below, but we’ll break down the best ones for you, starting with Marvel Rivals.
This is the latest “team battle” title in the genre, but it features a unique lineup of Marvel characters. Long story short, variations of the characters from across the multiverse have been brought in for battle, and you’ll pick one and then have at it against other players. Obviously, the game is attempting to piggyback off the success of other team battle titles. Yet, unlike certain failures in 2024, this one honestly has a chance to make a dent in the market due to the clever use of Marvel icons. Oh, and if you didn’t see the most recent trailer, Wolverine and Squirrel Girl will be a part of the game! Fun times.
The next game we’ll talk about is Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind. This is a unique old-school side-scrolling title that ties into the legacy of the beloved kids’ show while also connecting to a Netflix special that happened a while back. Very basically, a robotic version of Rita Repulsa goes back in time to try and help her younger, human self get revenge on the Power Rangers. Players get to play as their favorite Ranger while getting “remixed” versions of classic episodes and villain encounters. The team even plays with the perspective at times so you can enjoy the game in various ways.
And for those of you who have the PSVR2, multiple titles are coming out this month that you can enjoy through your headset, not the least of which is a Stranger Things game! While you eagerly await the arrival of the final season, you’ll get to experience your own adventures within the Netflix world.
So, PlayStation gamers, get ready for a busy month!
