Activision and Gameblog come to Agreement

February 22, 2012 by Mat Growcott

After being unfairly blacklisted, Activision promise Gameblog that everything is back to normal.

Activision and Gameblog have resolved their little feud. After posting a picture from Amazon.fr, Gameblog were threatened with being blacklisted by Activision if they didn't remove the post. They decided to keep it up and Activision apparently went ahead and blacklisted them, cancelling invites and advertising schemes. The wider gaming world was not happy with the apparent publish attack on editorial freedom and Activision denied ever blacklisting a member of the press.

This seems at odds with their latest move, as explained at Gameblog: “They made clear that they wanted to resume everything that was severed past Friday, including the sending of the games, attendance to the publisher’s events, and the contacts between their media agency and our advertisement agency. Gameblog is obviously glad of the decision Activision took to come back on its original position, and hopes that this kind of situation will not happen again, to anyone.”

So they don't blacklist people, but they did feel the need to re-invite to events and stress the point that games and invites would still be sent and advertising plans would remain. For now, it's over, but it's still not been an especially pleasant thing to watch.
