While the Nintendo Switch is slowly on its way out, The Big N is doing its best to send its beloved system out with a bang. That includes ensuring it has titles to play and enjoy leading up to the true release of the Switch 2. If you recall, that console is coming out in April at the earliest, so there’s plenty of time between now and then to release games. One of the games we know that will be released for Switch in 2025 is Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. The game is seven years in the making, based solely on the infamous E3 2017 reveal, and gamers don’t want to wait too much longer for it.
The good news is that Nintendo seems to be prepping for its launch in smaller ways. On the official franchise website, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond has been added to the other two games with Samus Aran that you can get on the Switch. Now, if you’re hoping for new information about the game, the site doesn’t provide that. Instead, it just highlights the reveal trailer that came last June and gives the following line:
“Embark on a new mission coming to Nintendo Switch in 2025.”
On the one hand, that reaffirms both the release window and the fact that it’ll come to Switch, which is great. However, on the other hand, it makes you wonder when in 2025 it’ll drop and when we’ll get new information on it.
There hasn’t been a traditional Nintendo Direct since June, and Nintendo has dropped many key pieces of information about certain upcoming Switch games on Twitter. Thus, we can’t simply say that there will be a Direct about the next game with Samus Aran.
That being said, with the updated website, it’s fair to think that The Big N might be teasing something soon, especially since the “Learn More” button takes you to the store page. Yes, you can’t pre-order it just yet, but that’s likely because the release date hasn’t been given.
With what has been announced for the Switch in 2025, it’s fair to say that this game is the “last big title” before the transition. Sure, there’s a title from The Pokemon Company that hasn’t been detailed yet, but that could mean it ends up on the Switch 2.
Either way, Nintendo knows that fans want this game, and they want it to be good. Hopefully, new details emerge soon so we can learn more about the fight to come.
