Persona 4 Arena Announced for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3

February 21, 2012 by Ian Miles Cheong

The Persona-based fighter is set to hit both major consoles this year.

ATLUS has announced today its plans to bring Persona 4 Arena, the fighting spinoff based on the popular Persona series of role-playing games to both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Developed in partnership with Arc System Works, Persona 4 Arena uses hand-drawn, 2D anime-style characters from both Persona 3 and Persona 4 titles. The game is backed up by a powerful fighting engine developed by the aforementioned studio.

"The Persona series has had tremendous success in North America, and Persona 4 in particular opened the series up to wider audiences than ever before," said Tim Pivnicny, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at ATLUS. "Now we're looking to expand Persona even further by teaming up with a very strong partner, Arc System Works, to move the franchise outside of the RPG genre and develop its potential in new and exciting ways."

Persona 4 will be released on both console systems this summer. More details about the upcoming fighter can be found at its official website here.
