It seems like Sony is all set to have a big E3 this year with Playstation Move, PSN premium and hopefully a release date for GT5. After trying their luck with PSPgo as a digital only console, could Sony be announcing a similar concept for PS3 games via the Playstation Network?
Well, Colin Sebastian of analysts Lazard Capital Market feels that PSN is set to play an important role in Sony’s E3 announcements,
At E3, we expect Sony to focus on “Move†and the product extensions available with the motion controllers. We also expect the company to provide more details on enhanced features and functionality of the online PlayStation Network, including complete game downloads, more robust social networking features, networked game-play and broader content offerings beyond games (e.g., online video).
Similar to Xbox Live, a handful of full-priced PS3 games are already available on the PSN, but are available only after a few months of their retail release date. We believe if Sony can offer digital downloads of games from the first day of their retail release at competitive, this could pretty much work in their favor. The way we see it, this feature will only be available to PSN premium users.
