Total War: Warhammer Will Have Official Mod Support From Day One

May 5, 2016 by Stephen Daly

Some modders are already getting mods ready for launch with the Creative Assembly’s help.

Total War: Warhammer will feature official modding tool and Steal Workshop support from launch, with a number of mods being readied for day one, Eurogamer reports.

An announcement last year that suggested the game would not feature mod support because of the Creative Assembly’s partnership with Games Workshop, the development team has been “working away on the paperwork” to ensure support is added.

Some notable Total War modders are already creating mods for the game with the assistance of the developers.

Dresden is working on a ‘Regional Occupation Mod’ that removes Warhammer’s restriction on which cities can be occupied by which races. This is a new restriction for the series and some fans have expressed their dislike of the idea so the mod should prove useful.

Magnar is making a ‘Legendary Lord Start Position Mod’ so that players can customise the game’s starting positions for Legendary Lords characters as the title suggests.

The Assembly Kit is believed to be relatively simple at this point but additional features including battle map editing will be introduced later this year.

Last Friday, the Creative Assembly announced that the game’s Chaos Warriors DLC will be free to everyone who purchases the game within the first week.

Total War: Warhammer is set for release on May 24th for PC, Mac, and Linux.
