According to Giant Bomb reporter Jeff Grubb, a PlayStation State of Play is on the horizon. Earlier this month, Grubb claimed that a new presentation was incoming, posting again on Wednesday to predict the date: September 24.
Though the content to be revealed during the show remains somewhat of a mystery, there are some predictions. Many believe that Sony will use the opportunity to announce Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered, though Grubb also notes that another remaster is in the works, dubbing the title “even less exciting.” Of course, PlayStation fans were quick to use this clue to dismiss the possibility of Bloodborne making a comeback.
The last State of Play was held in May and featured major titles like Astro Bot, the doomed 5v5 hero shooter Concord, Monster Hunter Wilds, and the PC version of God of War Ragnarok, released yesterday.
Lego Horizon Adventures may appear during the upcoming broadcast, as the title is aiming for a holiday 2024 release. The game was rated last week and will focus on both engaging solo and multiplayer gameplay, allowing for both couch and online co-op. Cross-platform co-op will be supported.
Earlier this month, Sony announced the long-awaited PS5 Pro. The system will cost an eye-watering $700 and will feature support for 60Hz and 120Hz displays, advanced ray tracing, and 4K output. Compatible games can be played at up to 120 FPS via AI upscaling. Similar in style to the ‘slim’ PlayStation 5, the console will not include a disc drive, though one can be purchased separately.
According to reports, developers will have the option of targeting 60 FPS over 30 FPS, though these titles may still technically quality as PS5 Pro Enhanced. Sony is aiming to have up to 50 PS5 Pro Enhanced games ready at launch, with another 8,500 PS4 backward compatible titles promising improved performance through the Pro’s Boost Mode.
