Cyberpunk 2077 Gets A Surprising Update Only On The PC Platform

September 12, 2024 by Dennis Patrick

Cyberpunk 2077 patch 2.13 is being rolled out.

Cyberpunk 2077 fans were surprised to see a new update pop up for the game. However, this is only for those who play on the PC platform. What makes this so surprising is that it was believed all the developers who were working on the game had since moved to other projects within the company. This update will bring the game to 2.13 and deliver a past-promised feature.

Don’t get too excited, as this patch update doesn’t actually bring anything new into the game. Instead, it is just an update that adds a PC feature that was previously stated to have been in the works. The update adds AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 3 and FSR Frame Generation. With FSR3, players get image unscaling, which essentially allows high-resolution frames at faster frame rates.

Thanks to IGN, we’re discovering that the developers had already promised these features would be coming to the game. But as noted, it was believed that all the support had wind down for the game mainly after Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty dropped. That was the only expansion for Cyberpunk 2077, and while there was a team that helped take care of some bugs from this update, most had been transferred to other projects within the company.

This update is likely more than welcome, but we don’t anticipate anything else notable to come later on. Instead, the developers are hard at work on other projects. For instance, we know that CD Projekt Red is soon exiting the preproduction phase for The Witcher 4, and development will ramp up.

Meanwhile, we know that another Cyberpunk game is coming out. This project is being developed within a new studio for CD Projekt based in Boston. We don’t have any details about what to expect from that, but fans of Cyberpunk 2077 will get another game sometime later on. Of course, a recent report also confirmed that CD Projekt Red was interested in making more mobile games as well, so both IPs might show up again on your phone and tablets sooner rather than later.
