Microsoft Launches New Xbox Game Pass Standard Plan

September 11, 2024 by Carley Garcia

This replaces the Game Pass for Console tier.

Xbox Game Pass is seeing a big change. The Game Pass for Console tier has officially been retired, replaced by the new Standard plan, now available for all users for $14.99 a month. This membership tier grants users access to hundreds of games and online console multiplayer – however, no day-one first-party titles will be available, and cloud gaming is also not included.

First announced in July, the Standard plan was previously available to try for Xbox Insiders. The tier also includes select member deals and discounts, including up to 50% off select games.

Players can also choose to subscribe to the PC tier for $11.99 a month or the Ultimate plan for $19.99 a month, both of which include access to Xbox’s day-one titles, along with an EA Play membership and cloud gaming. The Xbox Game Pass Core tier remains the subscription service’s entry-level tier, offering over 25 titles and online multiplayer for just $9.99 a month.

“Some games coming to Game Pass Ultimate (day one games or other game entries) will not be immediately available with Game Pass Standard and may be added to the library at a future date (can be up to 12 months or more and will vary by title),” wrote Megan Spurr, senior community lead for Game Pass in a new Xbox Wire post.

The following games will be removed from the service on September 15:

  • Ashes of Singularity: Escalation
  • FIFA 23
  • Payday 3
  • Slime Rancher 2
  • SpiderHeck
  • You Suck At Parking

Currently, Xbox Game Pass members can snag Age of Mythology: Retold, Expeditions: A MudRunner Game, Riders Republic, and Train Sim World 5.
