Metal Gear Solid 4 Might Be Coming To Modern Platforms Soon

August 28, 2024 by Dennis Patrick

A producer makes a slight tease.

Metal Gear Solid fans are getting a new installment this year. Or at least that’s the expectation unless this gets pushed into 2025. While it’s not a continuation of a storyline for fans to dig into, we’re getting a remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. But beyond that, some players are wondering if we’ll also get another helping of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. While it’s a waiting game to see if something comes to fruition, there is some hope that we’ll get news on a potential new volume release shortly after the launch of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater.

For those unaware, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots was released in 2008, and it was only available on the PlayStation 3 platform. So fans are ready to get a new release and potentially a launch that would spread out from just being locked down under the Sony PlayStation banner. Recently, this topic came up when IGN had the chance to speak with Konami producer Noriaki Okamura.

During their conversation, it was asked about bringing this installment to modern platforms, in which the producer made a slight tease. Here’s exactly what IGN reported on below.

We definitely are aware of this situation with MGS4. Unfortunately we can’t really say too much at the moment with Vol. 1 containing MGS 1-3 dot dot dot… you can probably connect the dots! – Noriaki Okamura

So, it would seem that we might get word on Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 in the near future. Now, what games that would include are uncertain. IGN previously reported that the collection, as they understand it, would include Metal Gear Solid 4, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, and Metal Gear Solid 5.

That should be exciting news for franchise fans who previously could not enjoy some of these games. But again, we’ll have to wait and see just when this collection is officially unveiled and released into the marketplace. With that said, this wasn’t the only shred of Metal Gear Solid-related news today.

Earlier, we reported on the behind-the-scenes at Konami regarding the franchise. It seems there hasn’t been a single individual who has stepped up and taken on the reins since Hideo Kojima left. But that doesn’t mean there are not a few individuals Konami has been considering for that position.
