Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Won’t Be Available on Xbox 360 Or PS3

May 3, 2016 by Ian Miles Cheong

The new Call of Duty won’t be headed to last-gen systems.

Infinity Ward and Activision will not be releasing this year’s Call of Duty entry on last-gen platforms, signalling the end of an era for both the PS3 and Xbox 360, which had long since been the platform of choice for titles in the Call of Duty series.

Fans of the series will definitely need to pick up a PC, Xbox One or PS4 if they want to get their game on this year. There’s simply no reason not to have a current-gen system for the latest games. Last year’s Call of Duty was also released on the PS3 and Xbox 360, but it was released without the inclusion of the game’s single-player/co-op campaign.

Given the size of the texture and model assets in the latest games, titles like Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare would require some serious downgrades in order to fit last-gen systems, which are no longer able to keep up with the demands of these games, so it comes as little surprise that the developers no longer wish to support the old systems, even if it means broadening their market.

Regardless, Infinity Ward has provided official confirmation that this year’s Call of Duty won’t be headed to last-gen platforms in response to a question posed by someone on Twitter.

@samadelo5 no, it will not.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare will be out on November 4 for PC, Xbox One and PS4.
