Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered will only be available with special editions of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and will not be sold separately, publisher Activision has confirmed.
The company posted an FAQ for Modern Warfare Remastered on their support website, noting that Modern Warfare Remastered will only be available as a digital download for customers who purchase a qualifying version of Infinite Warfare.
If you want Modern Warfare Remastered, you’ll need to buy one of the following qualifying SKUs: Legacy Edition, Digital Legacy Edition, Digital Deluxe Edition, Legacy Pro Edition.
Modern Warfare Remastered will only be available for download and will not be available as a separate physical version, Activision also confirmed in the FAQ.
Earlier today it was announced that the game, a remake of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, is being developed by Raven Software with original game creator Infinity Ward (which is making Infinite Warfare) acting in an executive producer capacity.
The Crash, Crossfire, and Backlot multiplayer maps are three of the ten the game will offer and there’ll also be a fully remastered version of the game’s campaign.
There are many who want Modern Warfare Remastered and perhaps Activision is banking on enough of them upgrading to one of Infinite Warfare’s special editions to make it worthwhile. Re-releasing the game is presumably a fairly significant investment and limiting its potential sales in such a way seems likely to significantly reduce its potential. It’s possible Activision will release the remaster separately after Infinite Warfare launches.
Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered are set for release on PC, PS4, and Xbox One on November 4th.
