No, Ghost of Tsushima Wasn’t Delisted On PC Like Helldivers 2 Was

May 10, 2024 by Ryan Parreno

While it isn’t true, we can understand why people would believe it.

In spite of the spreading rumor, Ghost of Tsushima is still available to buy on PC, even if you can’t make a PSN account.

An email has been spreading around from GreenManGaming that explained that they are removing the game from sale on their store, citing an “issue beyond our control.” The email then goes on to explain the situation where Ghost of Tsushima’s multiplayer mode won’t be available in regions where you can’t make a PSN account, because they wouldn’t be able to log into Sony’s systems to play multiplayer.

Posts around social media, like this on the LinusTechTips subreddit, have been spreading the email and using it as proof that Sony will not allow the sale of Ghost of Tsushima in non-PSN regions. But there’s an issue with that.

Your dear writer lives in one of those countries where we can’t make a PSN account. We can confirm that Ghost of Tsushima is still available for purchase here, on both Steam and Epic Game Store. We can also confirm that other digital game retailers, such as Humble Bundle, and Fanatical, also sell the game in our region.

The concern over this issue is well-founded, at the very least. Since Sony moved to delist Helldivers 2 in non-PSN regions over the weekend, it still hasn’t been returned to those regions. There are already Helldivers 2 players who bought the game, and were part of the community shaping its meta alongside Arrowhead Game Studios.

Those Helldivers 2 players have been effectively taken out of the game, a situation which doesn’t just harm the players from a consumer standpoint, but Arrowhead Game Studios. As a live service title, they need as many players as possible to keep the game alive, and also to help shape what the game will be to suit those players through the coming months and years.

Of course, the situation with Ghost of Tsushima has some differences. There is also an online community for Ghost of Tsushima, but it wasn’t designed to be live service, and many players will definitely forego it for the single player campaign.

We acknowledge the fear that Sony’s move into the PC space comes with caveats that are detrimental to the consumers. At least for now, you can rest assured that they haven’t made such decisions for Ghost of Tsushima.

Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut is releasing on May 16, 2024, on PC on Steam and Epic Game Store.
