The hugely popular MMO Final Fantasy XIV has seen win after win since the release of Endwalker in 2021. (In truth, it’s been winning since its rise from the ashes with A Realm Reborn in 2014.)
Though Xbox players had been forced to the sidelines as the game continued to take over the world, an open beta was opened on the Xbox Series X/S in mid-January, paving the way for new Warriors of Light to experience the vast world of Eorzea. This beta includes A Realm Reborn, Heavensward, and Stormblood.
During today’s Xbox Partner Preview, it was announced that the full game would be made available to Xbox players in just a few weeks on March 21. Any progress made during the open beta will carry over to the full title, so don’t worry if you’re already getting close to the Shadowbringers and Endwalker expansions.
In February, Square Enix clarified that the famous Final Fantasy XIV free trial would be available on Xbox Series X/S. Those wanting the full version will need to pay both the game’s subscription fee and the cost of Xbox Game Pass, bringing the total cost to around $23 a month for those opting for the cheapest tiers.
The title’s release on Xbox comes at a fortuitous time, as the game’s newest expansion Dawntrail is scheduled to release sometime this summer. With 7.0 will come a level cap boost from 90 to 100, a new playable race, two new DPS classes, new cities, new dungeons and raids, a new limited job, and an entirely new story arc. The game will also see its first-ever graphical update.
