Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League Delayed On Epic Game Store

March 5, 2024 by Ryan Parreno

Hopefully Epic Game Store users get the fixed version at launch.

Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League has officially been delayed, on Epic Game Store.

Of course Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League already released last month, and went on to ruin Rocksteady’s reputation as a developer. We won’t go through the sordid story of the studio being forced to make a live service game, but suffice to say its long delay punctuated just how flawed the final product would turn out to be.

But perhaps that description isn’t entirely accurate, as live service games will always have that ability to turn things around, so long as they are still allowed to keep going. In this specific case, Rocksteady didn’t figure out how to make a compelling long term gameplay experience. Even their most loyal fans are complaining that there just isn’t enough meat on Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League’s bones to make it enjoyable, much less enjoyable enough to get players into the habit of playing it daily.

WB Games made the announcement of the delay on the official Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League Twitter account. They said:

“UPDATE: The Epic Games Store version of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will now release on March 26, 2024. To our Epic Games Store PC community, thank you for your patience.”

We weren’t really quite told why the Epic Games Store release was delayed in the first place. But given the title’s current poor state, Rocksteady may be thinking of delaying this launch to get as many things fixed as possible so that Epic Game Store players get the better experience the moment they get to play it.

There is one crinkle that could explain the delay. The game has crossplatform crossplay, and it is one of the few features that Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League does very well. Their systems are set up so that you can invite friends over and get them to play with you with the least effort possible.

The game is also designed around this in such a way that story sections and multiplayer sections are clearly divided parts of the game. They did have to compromise in some ways on how progression work, but it’s overall a well-designed system.

Again, the big problem that Rocksteady has to fix now is that the main gameplay loop is not compelling enough to make fans want to really eagerly come back for more. If Rocksteady doesn’t find their way on this end, the game really will die in a few months time.
