Sometimes Always Monsters Coming Soon

April 20, 2016 by Nick Monroe

Sequel to Always Sometimes Monsters. Try not to confuse them.

SAM
Sequel to Always Sometimes Monsters announced, plans to tell a story that mirrors (but backwards from) the plot of the first game. The visually improved Sometimes Always Monsters seems to maintain the same story driven RPG narrative that the first one was. Developer Vagabond Dog will reunite with Devolver Digital as the game publisher.

I hope people don’t mix these two game names up too much.

According to the Steam page:

Always Sometimes Monsters was the story of a struggling author trying to achieve something by winning back the love of their life. It was a tale about the trials we go through in the efforts to define ourselves.

Sometimes Always Monsters is the other side of the same journey. Beginning the game both married and successful, this story will take you on the carefree downhill slide that comes after every great climb.

What new features can we expect in the sequel? The story from the first game is able to continue directly, thanks to the addition of save imports. Your characters and their decisions are brought over into Sometimes Always Monsters.

A buddy system of some kind means other authors are able to join you on your journey. Who you decide to bring along will increase your influence over one another, but you might hit some road bumps with them along the way. You can also bring your spouse with you on your travels, or you can have them stay at home. This can have a positive or negative impact, depending on what exactly happens with your trip.

You can preorder Sometimes Always Monsters here.

According to their blog, you can get Always Sometimes Monsters for free when you play Sometimes Always Monsters in the Indie Megabooth. During PAX East, the original game will be 90% on Steam. So if you’re even remotely interested in this game, now’s the time to give it a look.
