Rumor: PlayStation Lining Up 2024 PC Ports, Including Ghost of Tsushima And Gran Turismo 7

January 22, 2024 by Ryan Parreno

It looks like Sony hastily chose to greenlight these ports after seeing their dearth of new first party titles this year.

A PlayStation developer has revealed that the company is planning a large array of PC ports of their top games later in the year.

This post was put up in 4chan over the weekend and archived later:

“ Nixxes employee here, I know of some Sony games coming to PC this year:

TLOU Part 2
God of War Ragnarok
Demon’s Souls
Ghost of Tsushima
Gran Turismo 7

All slated for this year. DS and GOT taking so long because it’s the devs first time making PC ports. Spider-Man 2 will come in early 2025. Sony is also discussing porting earlier games e.g. infamous Second Son to PC as well.´´

While 4chan has been a source for rumors that were later confirmed, the website generally has a bad reputation when it comes to rumors and leaks. Because users can post anonymously, anyone can post anything on the site. So we have to regard this rumor with suspicion, but we can talk about how credible it is.

Nixxes is a Dutch video game studio based in Utrecht. It was acquired by Sony Interactive Entertainment in 2021, and the studio’s specialty is bringing ports of games to multiple platforms. They have had the most experience porting games to Windows.

Of course, we know that Sony policy is to bring their first party games to PC now. They have even gone out of their way to port their games to GOG, meaning these versions of these games are completely DRM-free.

Gamers probably already expected ports of more God of War and The Last Of Us games, but the big title that likely pops out of this list is Ghost of Tsushima. Ghost of Tsushima was first released in 2020 but has yet to be even announced for PC. Some fans were not sure this was ever happening, but will welcome this when it arrives.

The Gran Turismo series has also never been officially released to PC, having been designed since the first game around PlayStation hardware. Gran Turismo 7 is certainly not the most popular of games among the franchise, but it still has enough going for it that sim racers would love to give it a spin. In particular, they would be interested in seeing how much more it could be optimized on their own custom PC builds.

Lastly, Demon’s Souls is a game many will argue deserves a PC port, but may be receiving one too late. Without a doubt, it is one of FromSoftware’s most foundational games. This port will likely be based on the 2020 remake, developed by Bluepoint Games and the now defunct Japan Studio, instead of the 2009 original. There will definitely be enough FromSoftware loyalists to buy Demon’s Souls, but after Elden Ring, many gamers may decide that it’s too much older for them.

Nixxes is likely to have a hand in all PlayStation first-party ports to PC, so this is really a manner of when. It may be the case that all these ports were greenlit as Sony management noticed they were facing first party dry spells for the PlayStation 5 this year. But then, we will have to wait if this gets confirmed to corroborate that that is what happened.
