Rocksteady Was Working On Another Project Before Suicide Squad

January 15, 2024 by Dennis Patrick

Here’s what we know so far.

Rocksteady Studios was known for delivering some fantastic single-player video game experiences. In particular, fans took notice of this studio with the line of Batman Arkham games. The franchise thrived for years and eventually came to an end in 2016. There were plenty of fans since wondering just where the studio would then focus in on. Rumors swirled the internet, with fans suggesting another DC Comics franchise would get picked up. A popular rumor that turned out to be false was that we would see the studio take on the challenge of delivering a Superman game.

However, Rocksteady Studios was not working on a Superman game. Instead, we were finally given the reveal of Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League. Leaving their single-player experiences, the gameplay for Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League would be an online live service title where players could go through the game with friends, although there is also an option to enjoy the game solo. Unfortunately, fans’ reception over this title so far hasn’t been the greatest, and it’s only a matter of time before we see just how well fans take up with the whole live service experience.

While the studio is getting ready to release this game, there is new word coming out that Rocksteady Studios had another project in the works before getting Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. A new report from Bloomberg noted that sources familiar with Rocksteady confirmed that an original multiplayer game was being worked on. So it looks like there was always a push to deliver a multiplayer gameplay experience after their work with the Batman Arkham franchise. Unfortunately, there are no further details as to what this game was about or entailed.

Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League launches on February 2, 2024. You’ll find the game available for the PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S platforms when it is released. We’ll just have to see how well this game does in the marketplace and if it warrants the studio to continue supporting the project long after its launch. Of course, now fans might be even more curious about what this other mysterious multiplayer project might have been like if the studio continued pursuing its completion.

If you haven’t been keeping tabs on Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League, this title follows Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang, Deadshot, and King Shark as they embark on their biggest challenge yet. Our once heinous villains must save the day and stop the brainwashed Justice League from wreaking havoc. While we wait for its release next month, you can view a trailer for the game below.
