THQ has 6 Unannounced Games, 2013-2014 Release Schedule

February 3, 2012 by Ian Miles Cheong

THQ posts a bullish outlook for the next two years with over a dozen core titles.

Speaking at an investor call, THQ chief Brian Farrell said that the company has at least half a dozen games planned for release in 2013 and 2014.

In spite of reports that the company had somehow canceled its entire 2014 line-up, THQ's CEO Brian Farrell said that games like Dark Millennium Online (the Warhammer 40K MMO) were still on scheduled for launch in "fiscal 2014 and beyond," along with Guillermo del Toro's inSane, Homefront 2, and a new FPS from Turtle Rock, the developers of Left 4 Dead. Likewise, Patrice Désilets' title remains in development along with four other "unannounced core titles."

An additional two unannounced core titles are slated for release much sooner, in 2013.

According to a report on Eurogamer, Farrell added that the publisher was seeking a partner to help complete the Warhammer 40K MMORPG.

It's contrary to all the speculation we've been seeing on the company, which perhaps arose from the report that the company had let go of 240 staff in recent days, many (if not all) of whom were involved in developing, marketing, and publishing the now-abandoned kids' licensed games and uDraw.

The kids titles and uDraw had caused the company to lose $55.9 million over the past year.

"Sales of the uDraw GameTablet and related software, and other titles in the kids, family and casual category were far weaker than anticipated, substantially reducing our financial results for the quarter," said Farrell.

"We have since concluded an extensive review of our operations to realign our business, focusing on our key franchises with the most potential.

"We are implementing a plan to bring costs in line with our lower anticipated level of revenue. With our focused product plan, leaner cost structure, cash balance, and existing credit facility, we believe the company has adequate resources to execute on our plan and deliver on our strong multi-year pipeline of games."
