Wonder Woman Game Might Be A Live Service Title

November 9, 2023 by Dennis Patrick

A new job listing sheds some light on the Wonder Woman game.

Monolith Productions is working on a brand new Wonder Woman game. We can’t tell you much about it as this title hasn’t been shared very much yet. The project has remained under wraps after the reveal during The Game Awards 2021. Unfortunately, for some players looking forward to this game, it’s a title that might be a live service experience. This might be a welcomed announcement for some, while others cringe at the thought of picking this game up.

We can’t confirm that this will be a live service game. All we have to go off from is a job listing. Thanks to The Gamer, we’re learning that a new job listing for a lead software engineer does mention experience with maintaining a live software product or game. Live service titles have been pushed quite a bit lately. In fact, Sony was trying to get out twelve live service games within FY25. However, that has since been pushed back to just six, as we reported on the delay of six game projects earlier today. Likewise, it was recently that David Zaslav, the CEO of Warner Bros Discovery, unveiled plans to leverage all of the company’s IP to live service games.

If you’re unfamiliar with what a live service title is, this is a game that is continuously updated. Developers are keeping the game supported through new content. This can range from quests, new maps, characters, or whatever else the studio thinks might appeal to fans. These live service titles are often supported through various microtransactions or battle passes. Of course, Wonder Woman is supposedly a single-player experience, so it will be curious to see what content is added to the game. Again, often, live service titles are aimed towards multiplayer titles.

At any rate, there’s going to be plenty of guessing and speculation as we’re still waiting for the development team to unveil more of the game. One aspect that fans might find appealing is the included Nemesis System. Monolith Productions brought out Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and its sequel, Middle-earth: Shadow of War. Both of which included a new mechanic dubbed the Nemesis System.

With the Nemesis System, the game could generate some unique enemy encounters based on past interactions players had with them. Fans and critics alike praised this feature, and it’s likely we’ll see the same mechanic revamped and included in the upcoming Wonder Woman game. But for now, we’ll just have to wait and see what exactly the folks over at the studio come up with for this beloved DC Comics character.
