New Xbox Marketing Campaign Video Sneaks In Call of Duty

October 19, 2023 by Dennis Patrick

Wake up and dream.

We’re moving into the holiday season soon. That means we will see plenty of marketing materials released to hype up console platforms. Thanks to Tom Warren, who pointed out a new trailer drop, Microsoft has already kicked off its holiday marketing campaign. The folks over at Microsoft are highlighting their Xbox Series X/S platform. Featured in the video is the line of video game titles, both first-party and third-party, that you can enjoy. That said, you can look at the first video trailer in the player embedded below.

The video entitled Power Your Dreams is a small cinematic look at the different video games on the Xbox Series X/S platform. You’ll see some games that have already been released, which you can pick up right now on the latest-generation Xbox console. Then there’s even a look at games like Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II, a title still in development. We’re sure there are plenty of other marketing materials Microsoft has planned to release. During the holiday season, companies like Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo will throw out promos and videos to persuade consumers.

In fact, Tom Warren noted in their X post that they learned the marketing campaign for Xbox has already planned to release this live-action trailer during Thursday Night Football. Interestingly enough, the folks over at Microsoft did manage to throw in a small reference to the Call of Duty franchise. At one point in the video, we get a look back during the Xbox 360 era, which features a look at Call of Duty gameplay in the background. This comes right after Microsoft managed to get their approval to proceed with the Activision Blizzard acquisition.

Microsoft made a massive bid to acquire Activision Blizzard. Recently, the final regulator Microsoft was waiting on to give the approval, the CMA, has finally given the company the green light. That puts Call of Duty under the control of Microsoft, but we already know competitor platforms will continue to see new annual installments. However, you can expect future Call of Duty games to land on Xbox Game Pass at launch. This won’t happen until after this year wraps, so don’t anticipate Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III dropping on Xbox Game Pass this November. The head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, also noted that Activision Blizzard games are not set to land on Xbox Game Pass anytime soon. So again, this is something we’ll likely see after we get into 2024.
