Minecraft Players Are Not Happy As Their Petition Reaches 350K Signatures

October 11, 2023 by Dennis Patrick

Not enough content is reaching the game.

Minecraft has been around for ages now. With the title first emerging into the marketplace in 2011, the game continues to see itself thriving with a community of players. Add in the fact that you can continue to expect the game to land on the latest platforms; there doesn’t seem to be any end in sight for the sandbox title. Mojang Studios has also continued to add new content into the game to keep players engaged with the title. However, players now say the amount of content landing in the game is far too little. Today, we’re finding out about a petition that is reaching some massive numbers in hopes that Mojang Studios will be able to step their game up.

Thanks to Insider Gaming, we’re finding out that the petition that has gained attention is all about the lack of content updates. Currently, Mojang Studios provides a voting system to share what mobs could enter the game. It’s up to the community to determine what they want added to the game next. The current vote is based around a crab, a penguin, and an armadillo. However, players are suggesting that it is hurtful to showcase content that will not be present in the game simply because it didn’t garner enough votes.

The petition also states that this is tearing the community apart, with fantastic ideas being left on the cutting room floor. Furthermore, the petition notes that, since Minecraft had gained the financial backing of Microsoft, there are fewer content updates coming to the title than before they were acquired. It looks like there are also plenty of players who agree with the post, as it currently sits at 355,719 signatures. With the next goal set to 500,000, it could soon surpass this amount.

Of course, now the wait is to see if Mojang listens to the community and opts to avoid further conflict. That could mean we’ll see three mobs added each year, among other new content to keep players appeased. Unfortunately, it’s a waiting game right now, as the votes are still featured for one new mob addition. Likewise, it will be interesting to see what new innovations come to the game if Mojang opts to add more content regularly. For now, we’ll just have to see if the studio does recognize the petition.
